THIRD YEAR BOOK, 1904, THE BIBLIOPHILE SOCIETY. First Edition. This was Roswell Field's copy with his signature and bookplate. Roswell Field wrote the well known biblio-novel THE BONDAGE OF BALLINGER and was Eugene Field's brother. Roswell Field also wrote BIBLIOMANIA which was published in 1902 in the Bibliophile Society's FIRST YEAR BOOK. This volume's frontispiece is a magnificent etching of The Bookworm by W. H. Bicknell (after C. Spitzweg's famous painting of a distinguished gentleman standing atop a step ladder in an impressive private library). The etching is signed in pencil by the artist. Other illustrations are full-page photos and portrait, complete with the inserted tissue-guards with printed captions. Contents include: PRESIDENT'S ADDRESS by Nathan Haskell Dole; and THE BOOK COLLECTOR by Adrian H. Joline. Also included are lists of members; officers and council; reports of the treasurer and secretary; constitution and bylaws; a necrology of deceased members; and a detailed bibliography of the Society's publications. "Limited to 500 copies" and "Printed for Members Only" are so stated on a handsome engraving of the Society's emblem. Store description
About Books [Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and out of print books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail order catalogue, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of more than 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialities listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you want to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please only between the hours of 8am and 10pm, west coast time. Our phone is a landline that cannot receive texts.…
