True first British printing with original unclipped jacket (7s 6d). Jacket has been backed with blue coloured paper for reinforcement/repair. Signed, dated and dedicated by the author with a personalized message for the author's daughter in red ink to front end-paper. A press cutting (from Truth magazine dated March 28 1941) reviewing the book is stuck inside front board. Jacket has faults - namely edge/shelf wear, a few small approx. 1cm) tears, patchy creasing/rubbing to edges, few marks, patchy browning (including to spine), rubbing, patchy loss (mainly to head/tail of spine and to corners), minor foxing, pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine, pushing/bumping to corners, a few small scrapes/scratches, patches of wear to top (picture) surface (especially to front) and is in only fair condition. Boards are very good (having been well protected by the jacket) with a little pushing/bumping to corners, a few small marks, patchy browning, a little fading to spine, the odd small bump/rub to edges and a little wear (pushing/rubbing/slight fraying to the cloth) to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Pages are a bit tanned. Odd small mark/spot of foxing to page edges, tops and bottoms. Small (approx. 1cm) tears to top edge of a couple of pages.
