First edition. Signature of Robert Fortune (clipped from letter) tipped onto blank side of marbled front endpage. Period full leather, with hinges externally cracked and flaked but holding firm internally. Boards rubbed with rounding to corners and title partially chipped off at spine. Marbled edges and endpapers, with bookplate to front pastedown. Else internally clean, bright, unmarked, and sturdily bound. All plates present. Abbey (Travel), 543; Cordier, Sinica, 205; Lust 1236.
