About the Author:

Kevork Ajemian is one of the most prominent contemporary writers of the Armenian Diaspora. He was born in Syria in 1932, the son of exiled survivors. But he has lived for most of his life in Lebanon and is a graduate of the American University of Beirut, where he owns a bookstore. Fifteen of Mr. Ajemian's acclaimed novels, collections of short stories and literary essays have been published in Lebanon during the past thirty-five years. While he continues to write in Armenian, he is equally at home in English and has concentrated on this language for ten years as he has struggled to survive the ongoing civil war in Beirut. He has been acclaimed as a powerful intellectual voice in Armenian freedom movements as his works express the longing, rootlessness, and dispair of diasporan peoples everywhere
