First Edition. Hardcover. VERY SCARCE. FIRST EDITION INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR. Rufus A. Morison was born in Gate City, Virginia, a small town in the far Southwest corner of Virginia. He was a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. In 1917 he was commissioned into the Medical Reserve Corps, where he was appointed to the Heart Commission at the Colchester Heart Hospital, England. He joined the Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Virginia (also in rural Southwestern Virginia) in 1921 and was Chief of the Hospital Staff at publication of this book. The poems include dialect folk poems of the hill people in the South,as well as poems of grief and poems of love. An unusual and interesting collection. 8vo. Grey cloth covered boards with blue title to spine. Light yellowing to interior. Slight musty smell. Inscription to front free end page.
