8vo., 187pp. Sharp Stated First Printing of this unsettling story about a heart transplant, ghost-written by Bloch who presumably acknowledged that he wrote 100% of the book. Bound in red cloth with titles in gilt on spine and in black on front board. Square, tight and clean throughout save a somewhat heavy erasure on both the half-title page and rear black end-paper. Bump to top front tip. Mild water stain to the cloth on the rear top edge. Attractive unclipped dust-jacket, ($4.95), has some short closed tears. Fairly moderate soiling and toning to spine. Still solid and complete. Bookplate of Robert Bloch on front end-paper signed by him and a printed "Collier Young", also in his hand. A solid collectable copy and quite uncommon given its provenance.
