NrF. First edition, first printing. Paperback. PRESENTATION COPY INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR, GLADYS BURCHELL. on half-title page. Inscription reads, 'To ------/With my love and best wishes/Always/Gladys/1 March 2018'. An historical novel in which Willism Scott, born at the end of the nineteenth century, wanted nothing more than the warmth and security of a loving family. Sadly this was not to be. His father's early death and his mother's meagre income meant a boys' home beckoned for him. Covering two world wars with the Great Depression in between, this tale celebrates solid down to earth values when neighbours shared what little they had. A near fine copy of a SCARCE first edition, first printing SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR.
