Item description from seller

SIGNED. 197pp. Octavo [22 cm] Blue cloth over boards with gilt lettering on the spine. There is a faint embossed owner's stamp on the front free endpaper, and again on the title page. The front endpaper is gently pulling, and the text block is just beginning to crack after the half title. In a dust jacket, with a shallow closed tear to the top edge. Signed by the author on the title page. Anaya wrote Bless Me, Ultima, the ground-breaking novel of the life and folklore of Chicanos in south-eastern New Mexico. Tortuga is, by far, Anaya's most difficult title to find in hardcover. Anaya himself was not aware that it had been published in hardcover until years later.
