The front endpaper is gently pulling, and the text block is just beginning to crack after the half title. In a dust jacket, with a shallow closed tear to the top edge. Signed by the author on the title page. Anaya wrote Bless Me, Ultima, the ground-breaking novel of the life and folklore of Chicanos in south-eastern New Mexico. Tortuga is, by far, Anaya's most difficult title to find in hardcover. Anaya himself was not aware that it had been published in hardcover until years later.
