Treading Water on Ripple Creek Farm: Lily

The Ripple Creek Farm series follows the progress of a young farming family growing up in rural, southern America. The first book, Treading Water on Ripple Creek Farm: Lily, is set in The Great Depression and World War II eras. Lily, who is the eldest Howell child, tells the story.

Living on a struggling farm, Lily is faced with responsibilities and decisions that are far beyond her tender age. With a growing family, daily dilemmas with farm life, and two of her uncles away in the war, Lily will need great heart and strength as the family treads water.

Treading Water on Ripple Creek Farm: Lily is a historically accurate story with good old-fashioned morals. A great family story recommended for ages 9 and up.

Dr. Beulah S. Coyne, known as B, is the sixth of nine children. She grew up as a farm girl in the rural South. B worked ten years in the mortgage and paper industries before entering university. She paid her own way through school aided by student loans. Upon graduation, B began a long HR career in the oil and aluminum industries and was the first female employed in labor relations at Shell Oil's Norco plant in Louisiana.

B has lived in Jamaica, Ireland, and traveled extensively in Europe and Australia. During the annual spring-cleaning of the farmhouse, when B was in high school, her mother accidentally threw away her first hand written novel. Many years later, after earning an MBA in Jamaica, a Ph.D. in England, and working in academia, B has finally returned to the career she loves: writing historical fiction.
