Melbourne. Macmillan and Co. Ltd. 1963. First Edition. Not thought to be a first printing as there are 4 books listed after this one on the rear wrap. Hard Cover. Butterscotch coloured boards with map of Australia and titles to the upper board in dark brown and again in borders to the spine. Both spine ends are a little bumped but this is minor. Text block has a touch of age toning but overall condition is very good plus. Colourful illustrated dust wrapper is very good and much better than would be expected for age. There is some wear along the top edge ( a couple of tiny closed tears) and a small chip at the tail of the spine. Wrapper is unclipped and colours ands titles fresh and bright. Other extremities have some minor wear. Endpapers are green and illustrated with a map of Australia showing the location of various precious metals. The author has signed the front free endpaper 'a souvenir of your visit'. He has also signed his name again above this inscription with an address in New South Wales. There are a number of full page duotone drawings which have charm by Frank Beck (same green as endpapers). These tales are stories of the adventurous men who discovered Australia's mineral wealth. Scarce in its signed state.
