Signed by Author. Association Copy, with a tipped in slip apparently SIGNED: "To Mr. Richard R. Bowker, With Compliments, Theo L. De Vinne". Bowker is the founder and namesake of the R. R. Bowker reference publishing company. Octavo, cloth, t.e.g. with leather spine label. Good-Very Good, Corners bumped, shelfwear, cloth nearly fraying at crown of spine, a little dusty, with very light foxing to preliminary pages, a few pages lightly creased at top corner, scuffing to bottom edge, wear to outer hinges, light rubbing, owner name. Still very nice and internally clean, binding is solid. Nicer than it may sound. Well-illustrated with reproductions of title pages in black and (occasionally) red. Although De Vinne apparently issued an earlier limited work on Title Pages, this is an apparent first edition in this form, with "published, October 1902" on the copyright page. Nice association.
