About this Item
Octavo, blue cloth lettered in gilt; unclipped dust jacket, with slight edge-wear. First edition, first printing. A presentation copy, with a letter from Feis to Philip C. Jessup: "Dear Phil: Thank you for the cordial and laudatory note about `From Trust to Terror.' Your opinion is most encouraging --- Sincerely your Herbert Feis, Dec. 18, 1970." Jessup's ownership signature appears on the front endpaper. Jessup, a United Nations ambassador at large, served as a judge on the International Court of Justice at The Hague. In a chapter in "From Trust to Terror," Feis recalled the role Jessup played in ending the Soviet blockade of West Berlin. An important work, linking the veteran diplomat Jessup with the Pulitzer Prize winner Feis, both of whom worked closely with the State Department under Dean Acheson.
