Item description from seller

|First (only) printing. Wrappers. 8vo, 32 pp. The eighth Hanes Lecture, presented by the Hanes Foundation for the Study of the Origin and Development of the Book. And with a name like that, how could he dare to disappoint the Foundation? Williams' own evaluation of the publications of the Jargon Society, numbering one hundred and one. A fun read through the thankless (mostly) trials and tribulations of running an intellectual small press. Inscribed on the title page "To . . . / Highlands et Croisette/ Jonathan / 1990." As for the title, it is présalé, not presale, which the Collins dictionary tells me is the key to a dish made of "salt-marsh lamb," so that clears nothing up. The Jargon Society persevered and finally (no. 101) produced a runaway best seller, White Trash Cooking. All that hard work paid off. A very good copy.
