Add to basketHardcover; Hardcover: Signed and inscribed by the author. This is a very unusual volume. This book was donated to the Workmen's Circle for its N. Y. State Home for the Aged by the author. A typewritten page describing the contribution of this book plus five listed dictionaries and a selected number of American literary best sellers, and dedicated to Brother Max Gaft, which has been signed by the author has been taped into the front of the book. A second typewritten page, which says Don't judge the book by it's cover, but by the sentiment behind it and it is signed The Author Br 367, is also taped in. The pages are taped in at the hinge. In addition, a custom made leather dust jacket has been made for the book. Rust colored leather with the title UNVARNISHED embossed on the cover and spine. The covers have hand embossed designs as well. Additionally, on the front cover is a hand made copper medallion which says Brotherhood of Painters, Decorators & Paperhangers embossed on it. The rear cover has another embossed copper medallion as well. This leather jacket has been stapled to the cloth boards which are lightly soiled. There is wear to the edges of the leather dust jacket and some fading. The endpapers front and rear and these typewritten pages are oxidized and foxed, with tape residue. The rear hinge has been tape reinforced just like the front hinge. Text is clean, lightly oxidized. Foredge soil.; B/w Illus; 8VO; 381 pages.
