1st printing of the first Canadian hardcover edition SIGNED by the author on the front free end paper with a black ballpoint pen and DATED by him on the DATE of PUBLICATION, Mar. 16, 2021. Black paper boards and binding with white end papers and gold titles. At the time of listing this was the only autographed example of the Canadian edition offered for sale in all of Christendom. 600 pp. Illustrated with numerous charts. A tight copy with sharp corners and spine ends. Tanning of the page edges, and the bottom corner of the first half-dozen preliminary pages is softly turned. Slight spine roll. Ghostly imprint of a pencil erasure top corner of ffep, above the autograph. Minor rubbing to the surface of the back cover. On pg. 2 of the Introduction a previous owner made a short vertical line in the margin with a black ballpoint pen next to the author's reason for writing the book: "I felt the collapse in public trust of the elites, globalisation and technology. And I became convinced that these challenges reflect a common crisis in values and that radical changes are required to build an economy that works for all." In the next paragraph, on the following page, Carney repeats Wilde's aphorism - knowing the price of everything but the value of nothing - and adds that "by elevating belief in the market to an inviolable truth we moved from a market economy to a market society." The jacket is bright, crisp and price intact with sharp edges. There is a horizontal scratch in the surface of the front panel that runs from the fore-edge to the mid-point of the panel. This is unobtrusive inside the protective sleeve. The spine of the jacket is creased from the heel for three quarters of the length of the spine. The design of the spine is black with white titles, so the crease is unobtrusive and more visible on the reverse side of the jacket. Mark Carney was elected Prime Minister of Canada in 2025. This is his first book. Buyer may be asked to pay the actual cost of postage due to the weight of the book. Also available from this bookseller in the category of books on economics is a first printing of the first American hardcover edition of The Age of Turbulence signed by the late Alan Greenspan on the front free end paper (not on a book plate) and dated by him in the year of publication (NY: The Penguin Press, 2007).…

Store description
Operating continuously since 2004, SIGNAL BOOKS specializes in autographed fiction in collector's condition. All books are 1st printings of the 1st edition, unless otherwise noted. All dust jackets are protected in a clear, acid-free sleeve. And 85% of our book inventory is autographed by the author because SB is located near Toronto, an international hub for author events. Regarding condition, we believe in full and frank disclosure. We describe objects conservatively and thoroughly so you won't have any unpleasant surprises. And you may rely on us to take care in packing your order so it will arrive as described. If you've grown tired of buying from dealers who lack the expertise or the willingness to fully describe flaws or who are purposely vague in their descriptions, buy from us and put that aggravation behind you. We ship in sturdy boxes - NOT self-mailers or padded envelopes. And all sales regardless of purchase price are bubble-wrapped and surrounded by Styrofoam peanuts. Please browse our catalogs, including autographed first books, books signed by deceased authors, books signed and dated in the year of publication and Comic Books-Action Figures.
