First Edition (first printing). A presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the half-title: "For J. C. Dent / Herbert E. Palmer". Small 8vo. ix, 48pp. Red cloth lettered in black at the spine and upper board. Errata slip tipped to the reverse of the contents leaf, as required. A sliver of very light partial toning to the free endpapers. A virtually fine copy in slightly toned, rubbed and dust soiled non-price-clipped dust wrapper. A brief foreword by the author precedes twenty-two poems. The recipient of Palmer's inscription is probably John Cyril Dent, Headmaster of the City of Westminster School, and the editor of various texts primarily aimed at schoolchildren, but with no connection to the Dent publishing dynasty. In 1935 - a year before this book was published, J. C. Dent he was fined £1 for causing an obstruction with his car at Whipsnade Zoo. Happenstance; or vampires.
