(1947). Stated first printing. Small thin folio color pictorial paper-covered boards. Illustrated throughout from color designs and b/w vignettes by Al Dempster and Bill Justice. Cover and jacket illustrations by Mary Blair. Light bumping to the spine tips, else fine in a good plus dust jacket which has some heavy chipping to the front panel. This copy INSCRIBED "To Ronald Cooke with best wishes from Walt Disney" Laid in is a letter from Ronald Cooke who states that his great aunt Lillian was a Christian Science reader who read several times for Disney, was friends with Disney, and had two books inscribed by Disney to Cooke. There is no reference to Christian Science in either of the extensive biographies of Disney by Bob Thomas and Neal Gabler. It is known that there were at least three animators who were allowed to do "secretarial" presentation signatures for Disney. We have carefully examined the signature in this book, and we believe this signature is by Hank Porter. Although this is almost certainly not signed by Walt himself, it is an interesting association and an unusually nice copy. 0.
