Flat signed by Gore to the title page.The first edition, first printing, in the publisher's original price unclipped dust wrapper.This work is the sixth novel in Gore's 'Narratives of Empire' series, although the first in the series to be published.The novel begins in 1937, and continues into the Cold War. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dust wrapper. Light shelf wear to back strip tail, otherwise externally excellent. Edgewear to dust wrapper back strip tail, with small closed tears to head of front wrap, and head and tail of rear wrap. Tape repairs to dust wrapper reverse running the length of the dust wrapper head, and to the tail of the back strip. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally clean and bright. Near Fine.
