What We Want And Other Poems explores the nuances of growing up, learning, loving, and living mindfully within the intricate context of families, friends, and communities. The poems in this 100-page collection find thematic homes within four sections: Learning to Dance; High Marks in the Schoolhouse; Loving, JUST and MERRIED; and Realizing What We Want. Throughout the work, Adam R. Marcotte offers a compelling perspective of a balanced, deliberate way of life on a delicate and precious planet. Each of these first edition books is signed by the author.
Adam R. Marcotte grew up in a rural Vermont town with a caring brother who was always an eager ally, a socially- conscious mother who showed just what one person could do, and a patient and supportive father who worked countless hours helping with homework and waiting for music lessons to finish. The author holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Ithaca College and a master’s degree in English literature from the State University of New York at Cortland.
Mr. Marcotte currently lives in upstate New York where he teaches and learns with high school English students, advises his school’s literary and arts magazine, and dallies with a number of electives including creative writing, Argentine tango, web and graphic design, and chess. At home, he appreciates the company of his pets, compiles local history, plays his flute, takes extended hikes, and, most of all, cherishes his Sweetie.
