Item description from seller

342pp. Signed and inscribed by Alvin Dark in blue sharpie on the front free endpaper. . Lime Green and blue cloth, with silver lettering on the spine. Light wear to the extremities. .Unclipped pictorial dust jacket has a 1/4 closed tear on the front panel.in mylar sleeve. . "When in doubt, fire the manager isn't a single book, but a common sentiment in sports (especially baseball) reflecting a tendency to blame the manager for team struggles, often seen in books like Alvin Dark's memoir or studies on MLB managerial changes, suggesting that replacing the manager is a frequent, often knee-jerk, response to poor performance, even if its effectiveness is debatable. It highlights the pressure on managers and the executive desire for quick fixes, analyzing if these midseason firings actually improve a team's win-loss record." Size: octavo.
