SIGNED. 212pp. Octavo [21.5 cm] Orange cloth over boards with a white and black ink stamped title on the spine. No dust jacket. Extremities moderately rubbed. 1 cm of the underlying board is exposed along the bottom edge of the rear board. A couple of short tears to the cloth at the spine ends (the longer tear measures just under 1 cm deep). Several small, light moisture stains on the rear board. Inscribed by Wilson Rawls on the front free endpaper: "To_____ / Sincerely / Wilson Rawls." An inscribed first edition of this classic coming of age story about Billy Coleman and his Coonhounds, set during the Great Depression in the Ozark Mountains and later adapted into the classic film of the same name. This title was awarded the 1987 Massachusetts Children's Book Award, the 1989 New Hampshire Great Stone Face Award, and the 1981 North Dakota Flicker Tale Children's Book Award.
