Offered is a signed and inscribed first edition, first printing (from this publisher) of "Who Knows Better Must Say So! - Letters of An American Jew - With a 1969 Introduction" written by Elmer Berger and published in 1970 by The Institute for Palestine Studies out of Beirut, Lebanon. The book was first published in 1955 by The American Council for Judaism and reprinted by The Institute for Palestine Studies by permission of Rabbi Berger. A softcover book measuring 5-1/4" by 8-3/8" and containing 134 internal pages. The Contents are: Where I Found the Title of This Booklet; Introduction - 1969; a collection of letters to Lessing J. Rosenwald ("Lessing") and Clarence L. Coleman Jr. ("Buddie") during Rabbi Berger's trip to the Middle East in 1955; with 17 photographs and Index. In Fine condition. SIGNED AND INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR TO FOUZI EL ASMAR to the first inside (blank) page: "To Fouzi El-Asmar, With all good wishes, Elmer Berger, 5/5/72." RABBI ELMER BERGER (1908-1996) was a prominent Jewish anti-Zionist and Executive Director of the American Council for Judaism (from its founding in 1942 until 1955) and later President of American Jewish Alternatives to Zionism which he founded in 1968. FOUZI EL ASMAR (1937-2013), the owner of this book, considered "The Poet of the Palestinian Liberation Struggle," was a Palestinian writer, poet, journalist and public intellectual who was committed to advancing the civil and political rights of Israeli Arabs. The anti-Zionist political organization, al-Ard, which he helped found, was banned in 1964 by the Israeli authorities, and he was imprisoned without trial in the Ramlah (now Ayalon) and Damon prisons from 1969-1970, along with a year of house arrest in 1971 upon his release.
