Add to basket"William Adolphus Turnpike" is a novel by William Banks, the main character of which is a young office worker in Toronto in the early twentieth century. The story, at times satirical and humourous, captures the atmosphere and multicultural urbanity of Toronto in the early twentieth century. This copy is particularly interesting as it is inscribed by the author to the Right Honourable R.L. Borden, K.C. This is almost certainly Robert Laird Borden (1854-1937), the eighth prime minister of Canada, who would go on to lead Canada through the First World War. This copy is in Very Good condition. There is no dust jacket. There is some foxing and discolouration on the front fly leaf and title pages. The text, however, is clean. There is some slight wear to the fabric covering the boards at the top and bottom of the spine, and slight bumping and wear to the corners.
