Reviews
Dr. Pashkow, of the Cleveland Clinic, and Libov, a heart patient, intend their book to provide women with the knowledge they need to obtain good heart care. In it, they detail how the heart functions, risk factors, diagnostic differences, diseases and congenital conditions, and treatments. Especially good--and unique--is the chapter on pregnancy and the heart, which is seldom covered for younger women with heart conditions. The authors include a glossary of medical terms along with a selected bibliography and recommended reading list. While this volume is good, especially for younger women, Edward Dietrich and Carol Cohan's Women and Heart Disease ( LJ 11/15/92) is a better choice.
