Hardcover in reddish-brown cloth with gold and black decorative stamping front and spine, no jacket, smalll 8vo. 1884 date to title page (1882 copyright). 466pp. Indications are faded printed call in white lower spine end; bookplate front pastedown; pocket rear pastedown. Poor to Fair. Moderate to strong spine slant/cocking with strong play to front hinge before title page, pre-title page nearly detached from tears at upper and lower gutter; play to rear hinge with scraping loss to endpaper along gutter. gatherings from p237 to p.308 holding loosely along visible strings.
