Item description from seller

The Collected Edition, signed by Clare Leighton and in a limitation of Four Hundred and Fifty copies. Contains 36 tipped-in examples, (each with captioned heavy tissue paper) of Leighton's work completed between 1923 and 1930, including illustrations for Thornton Wilder's "The Bridge of San Luis Rey." In the publisher's small folio brown cloth with the inset bird's eye view on the cover (very minor bottom left abrasion) and including the mouse illustration following the last tipped-in image. Leighton has been credited with the revival of the art of wood engraving in the early part of the 20th century and her work appears in many acclaimed libraries and museums. Spine lettered in gilt and in bright and clean condition. Some minor foxing to end papers as is common with this book. Overall an unblemished collector's copy.
