8vo. A wonderful close association copy of this anthology of 39 of Lamb's short stories and essays on fly-fishing and other outdoors exploits. A limited edition of 1500 copies, this particular piece being number 164. "Lamb (1899-1986) was a New York City investment banker, avid angler and gifted writer. He was best known for his fishing adventures in the northeastern U.S. and Atlantic Canada. He particularly loved fly fishing for Atlantic salmon. Lamb was a wealthy man who was involved in several fish and game clubs, and donated the proceeds of his books toward community and conservation efforts. Though sometimes hard to find, Lamb's books are highly sought after and enjoyed by a dedicated group of outdoor book enthusiasts." - outdoor sporting library This particular piece is a nice association copy, written to his close friends Fred and Roberta Thomas (wife of Frederick) of the 17th-century manor near Easton, Maryland, 'Troth's Fortune', given as a Christmas gift, 1965, with the inscription reading - "To Fred and Roberta Thomas with all the best as always with my love. Dana S. Lamb - Sunken Meadow Christmas 1965" Laid in are also three letters to Roberta, signed by Lamb, with one being a holographic letter. One of the typed letters to Roberta is a thank you note for a donation to the Quebec-Labrador Mission Foundation, a Canadian and U.S. conservation group, with a pamphlet from the organization also laid in, showing Lamb as one of its directors. 89pp. Brown and cream-flecked paper over boards. Gilt titling to spine. Square tight binding. Clean interior, save for previous bookseller notation in pencil to top of front end paper.
