Item description from seller
Word Shadows of the Great: The Lure of Autograph Collecting - Thomas F. Madigan, Frederick A Stokes Co., 1930. First edition, first printing with rarely seen dust jacket. This is one of the few classic works on collecting autographs, written by one of the earliest major dealers. The book is in very fine to very fine condition with only the slightest signs of some edge wear in a couple of spots on the jacket. It is now protected with a clear acetate protective cover. It is inscribed by Madigan to Thurman L. Hood, literary critic, professor and editor of Letters of Robert Browning published in 1933. Fifty-three facsimiles are illustrated. Accompanied by a copy of Hood s Letters of Robert Browning.
