San Francisco: Change Press, 1963. First Edition. TLS postcard laid in mentioning this accompanying book; therefore, an assumed presentation/association copy as well. Octavo, pictorial wraps, 43 pp. Age toning to spine and extremities, else near fine. Post card is lightly toned, else fine. Nice specimen of the second poetic opus by Beat icon Loewinsohn. 43 pages of short poems; he knew that poetry and rambling seldom go well together. Laid in is a typed postcard from Loewinsohn to Diane Di Prima, San Francisco to New York, dated October 26, 1963, in which he mentions her titling of one of his poems within [5:30 A.M.] and states he will try to get her another copy of the book, which she had presumably requested. Also mentioned is "Roi" (Leroi Jones), another beat pillar, and 'The Bear" - Di Prima's Floating Bear digs in New York City, and a "Dick B." (probably Loewinsohn's friend and another noted beat poet, Richard Brautigan]. Post card is signed "Ron" at the bottom. Recipient Di Prima is generally considered to be the most important woman of the Beat Movement. Seminal and rather early beat work, in nice shape, but the uniqueness of the card, with its multiple associations, make the copy. l-38n.…
