It is, however, according to the flap of the dust jacket, a philosophical novel, a dramatization in terms of character and event of the conflict between idealism and reality a historical novel with insights into the American past. This small hard cover book (5 ½ x 8 ½ inches, 512 pages) was published by Random House of New York, dated 1950 and the First Printing. It is also a special Kentucky Edition limited to one thousand copies signed by the Author. The book is bound in burnt orange cloth boards with black and gilt titles on the spine and cover and protected by a printed paper dust jacket. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are clean, barely bumped but perhaps a bit dust-dulled. The dust jacket shows a good deal of edge wear particularly along the upper edge with minor chips and tears. Inside, the only mark I found is the Author s signature; the interior pages are clean and bright and without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight, sound and square. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
