1/4 Lb Lean (Inscribed By Author)

34 slices of life from behind the counter of some of the most successful Jewish Delis on the West Coast as told by legendary deli-man Murray "Boy" Maltin - the "Deli-Lama".

A whole menu of sweet, warm and often hilarious stories from a bygone age. Stories about deli men, about deli customers and, ultimately, about life itself as it was in the 40's and 50's when the "Greatest Generation" went to war and came home to their high school sweethearts and their neighborhood delis.

This feast is topped off with a truly wonderfeul dessert - a full baker's dozen never-before-revealed recipes for the most popular deli foods - like Corned Beef, Special Deli Beef Brisket, Cheese Blintzes, Jewish Chicken Soup, Potato Salad to-die-for and a whole list of others.

Murray "Boy" Maltin was born in 1930 on Coney Island into a deli family and grew up in and around his father's delis in New York, in Oceanside and in Beverly Hills. He went off to war in Korea in 1950 and was wounded there - but came back to become one of America's premier deli men, working and managing many of the biggest and most successful delis on the West Coast.
