Later printing (per publisher's lack of edition/printing statement upon copyright page) INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. xx, 218 pages. Hardcover: H 21.25cm x L 14.25cm. White dust jacket rubbed and soiled; nicks and short tears at top edges; front flap is not price-clipped. Maroon cloth with vibrant silver stamping to spine. Deckle fore-edge. Toning along endpaper gutters. Author's four-line black felt-tip ink inscription "For Beatrice McConnell | With thanks + best wishes | to a good Democrat. | Averell Harriman" upon the front free endpaper; interior pages are otherwise clean. Binding retains some crispness. Laid-in at front endpaper is yellow card of the Woman's National Democratic Club with inscribee's handwritten name so evidently the club was the facilitator of Harriman's inscription.
