JAMES WHITCOMB RILEY (1849-1916). Riley was an American writer and poet sometimes known as The Hoosier Poet. Riley wrote the 1885 poem Little Orphant Annie, which inspired the beloved character Little Orphan Annie.PS. 1pg. June 16, 1896. Indianapolis.
