The two volumes of this later reprint (the 1st edition was 1879) are bound in reptile pattern flexible covers, worn on the edgesand spine. Vol. Twohas several circular stains. The newsprint pages are tanned and have a few chips, but thr bindings are tight and no pages seem to be missing. McElroy was from the Company L, 16th Illinois Cavalry and spent time in the Confederate Prisons in Richond, Andersonville, Savannah, Millen, Blackshear and Florence. He recounts, as many soldiers did, the horrors of the prison camps. These two volumes belonged to another soldierM. L.
