About this Item
SIGNED. Unpaginated. Oblong octavo [21x28cm]. Matte pictorial paper over boards. Signed and numbered #4 out of 10 by the author in silver ink on title page. Trent Harris is best known as a cult filmmaker. His films include: "Rubin and Ed," starring Crispin Glover, "Plan 10 From Outer Space," with Karen Black and, Beaver Trilogy, with Sean Penn. In this book Harris steps away from cinema to create a collection of set designs for an opera about ants. Yes, it is an impossible project that likely will never be made. But who knows. An opera about ants is a very good idea. "The Ant Opera" came to Trent when he learned that a queen ant can live to be thirty years old. "How many of her lovers and children does she see die? Broken hearts, death, palace intrigue, this is the stuff of a great opera. These set designs are rooms in the ant cities that lie beneath the surface. There is the Queen s Chambers, the Communication Center, the Grand Ball Room, the Nursery and more. Ant world is technically advanced. Ant world is linked to civilizations on other planets.".
