[Autograph Letter, Signed "Felix," To Garson Kanin and Ruth Gordon, Postmarked September 30, 1958]. 1 pp. Text to recto of 5-3/4" x 3-3/4" sheet of Frankfurter's personal stationery with transmittal envelope addressed to "Mrs. Garson Kanin." A few tiny chips to top-edge of letter, moderate toning to envelope, which has a later annotation to its verso. [With] Baruch, Bernard [1870-1965]. [Typed Letter, Signed "Bernie," To Felix Frankfurter, September 26, 1958]. 1 pp. Typed letter on 9-3/4" x 7-3/4" sheet of stationery. Moderate toning, two horizontal fold lines. [And] Remarks by Mr. Bernard M. Baruch at Memorial Services for Herbert Bernard Swope At Freedom House - 9/17/58 [Caption Title]. 2 ff. Carbon-copy typescript on 11" x 8-1/2" sheets. Light toning, two horizontal fold lines. Together three items, housed in handsome cloth clamshell case with morocco lettering piece ("Frankfurter & Bernard Baruch and Herbert Bayard Swope") and bookplate of Donald Scott Carmichael. $850. * Bernard Baruch was an American financier, statesman and presidential advisor to Wilson and Roosevelt. His letter to Frankfurter encloses a remembrance of Herbert Bayard Swope [1882-1958], an American journalist and editor. Baruch relied heavily on associates like Swope, a journalist and editor, to write his public speeches, as Frankfurter's wry note to long-time intimate friends Garson Kanin and Ruth Gordon suggests: "My Very Dears, And Herbert is one of the items for my aching desire for a long schmoos with youse. I have no doubt that Bernie feels the words that were put on his lips by Herb's "ghost" successor. Ever the best twosest, Felix.".
