About this Item
The banker who founded Jay Cooke & Co. proved remarkably successful as a fiscal agent for the U.S. Treasury, selling far more government bonds than was thought possible; later he financed western railroad construction such as the Northern Pacific and mines in Utah. ANS, 1p, 5 3/4" X 7 3/4", Philadelphia, PA, 1902 January 27. Very good. On his "Fourth & Library Streets" letterhead, Cooke complies with an autograph request in his large, bold, flamboyant script. A very handsome piece. Seller Inventory # 15314
