The prolific character actor of many films is remembered as "Happy" on television's "McHale's Navy" (1962-64) and Murray Slaughter on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" (1970-77) -- but overwhelmingly as Captain Merrill Stubing on the pop phenomenon series "The Love Boat" (1977-87). Unusual ANS, 1p, heavy stock 5½" X 8", n.p., n.y. Fine. In blue fineline, MacLeod pens the word "LOVE" in all capital letters no fewer than fifteen times, filling much of this sheet, at the bottom of which he adds "from Gavin MacLeod." Accompanied by a superb glossy color 8" X 10" photograph, a closeup portrait of a smiling MacLeod as Captain Stubing in dress whites and cap. Incredibly unnusual.
