Garden (1874-1967), born February 20, 1874; died January 3, 1967; Scottish-born operatic soprano; studied in the U.S. and France; Paris Opera debut in 1900 (in Louise, when Marthe Rioton fell ill); U.S. debut in 1907 (as Thais); danced and sang Salome (1909); with Chicago Opera (1910) and managed that company for the 1919-20 season.
