("Mary Garden") 1 page, gilt edges, to usher Joseph Huntley. 9" x 6 3/4". Fine. Garden visited Los Angeles in 1923 and was photographed by Charles F. Lummis. In 1928 he wrote a poem to honor her. See page 9, "Abronco Pegasus." Garden (1874-1967), born February 20, 1874; died January 3, 1967; Scottish-born operatic soprano; studied in the U.S. and France; Paris Opera debut in 1900 (in Louise, when Marthe Rioton fell ill); U.S. debut in 1907 (as Thais); danced and sang Salome (1909); with Chicago Opera (1910) and managed that company for the 1919-20 season.
