Single page 8.5" x 11" letter with previous folds, very small separation at folds, verso is blank, no envelope, age toned, The short letter reads, "Jan. 28, 1915, My Dear Ms Keiser; Enclosed is the House picture for our friend - and a few others for yourself. Hope all goes well with you. I am first rate - The Rocky Mountain National Park now is made. Very Truly Yours, Enos Mills." One can sense his excitement after working so long and hard to preserve the lands he loved. A rare and compelling item of NPS history. Handwritten letter from Enos Mills dated January 28, 1915, two days after President Woodrow Wilson signed the legislation creating Rocky Mountain National Park. Enos Mills spent almost two decades pushing for National Park status for the lands adjacent to his Long's Peak Inn in Estes Park, Colorado. His vision was protecting 1,000 square miles running the crest of the Rockies from the Wyoming border to Pike's Peak to the South. In the end, Rocky Mountain National Park encompasses 352 square miles with Estes Park serving the gateway community to the park. DATE PUBLISHED: 1915 EDITION: Seller Inventory # 120640
