Printed broadside on fine watermarked paper [30.5 by 22 cm], signed in both type and ink by José de la Bárcena, Victoria de Durango, Agosto 12 de 1836. Slight raggedness to right edge; near fine. An interesting broadside attacking the prevalence of counterfeiting in the state of Durango and chastising the civil authorities inadequate attempts to bring them to justice. This rare printed proclamation forwards a complaint from Undersecretary of the Treasury dated 18 July 1836 regarding the extensive circulation of counterfeit copper coins and the "escandalosa impunidad" that the counterfeiters had enjoyed at the hand of corrupt authorities, and conveys an order from the interim president, José Justo Corro, to the civil authorities to effectively prosecute the counterfeiters.
