One of 250 copies printed, this number 54. Author presentation inscription to front free endpaper. "Hon. Graham Witschief with sincere regard from Arthur Wilcox 28 May 1934." A desirable association copy, inscribed by Wilcox to Graham Witschief, a Justice of the New York Supreme Court, and thus retaining a direct connection to the professional milieu the work commemorates. Wilcox, a Port Chester attorney and local legal historian, here assembles a detailed prosopography of the bar of Rye Township-encompassing Mamaroneck, Port Chester, and Rye-from the seventeenth century through the early twentieth. $65. As both a reference and a work of local legal historiography, the volume preserves a substantial body of biographical and institutional detail not readily recoverable from other sources, documenting the formation of the Westchester bar and its role in the civic life of the region.
