Signed by the Photographer\n\nBeautiful, Still. is the first monograph from photographer Colby Deal, documenting the people, objects, and environments of everyday life in the Third Ward neighbourhood in Houston, Texas, where the artist grew up. In this ongoing project, currently consisting of over a thousand negatives, Deal sets out to provide a visual record of overlooked communities and the cultural characteristics gradually being erased by gentrification, as well as a depiction of communities of colour whose members are often portrayed with negative connotations. Through these instinctive black-and-white photographs, Deal’s down-to-earth approach to his subjects is made apparent; at times candid and blurred, other times poised and sharply focussed, the series builds to convey the dynamism and vibrancy of family, community, and individual life in the Third Ward. The scratches and dust left on the negatives reflect the marks of lived life and simultaneously suggest the fragility of these documents and the corresponding precarity of the fabrics of social life they often depict. Deal’s almost conversational tone — the antithesis of media portrayals of the neighbourhood — invites his viewers in with a sense of joy and intuitive playfulness. We specialise in Rare, Signed and Out of Print Photographic Books.
Stock is limited and moves very quickly, please check availability by email.
I only send books in proper cardboard book packaging, non-shrinkwrapped books are wrapped in brown paper for protection of the cover and then all books are wrapped in bubble wrap for addional protection.
I do not send books in secondhand envolopes and dirty newspaper.
Shipping is by Royal Mail, local Postal Services, or Courier Services, services are either tracked or requires a Signature. I do not send by surface or cheaper unrecorded methods to aviod losses.
For overseas cusomers the Abe default shipping given is for a 1Kg book. Most of my books are heavier then 1Kg so will require addional shipping to be paid.
Sales to customers outside of the UK may be subject to local taxes and import duties, these are beyond my control and the responsobility of the buyer.
The cost of shipping includes the cost of proper book packaging and bubblewrap requires a signature and includes insurance and the commission that ABE now
charge on the shipping charge.

Overseas Customers - The shipping charge displayed is the ABE default for a 1Kg book, If your book is heavier than 1Kg packed then extra charges will apply, you will be notified if this is the case and you will need to agree the extra charges. I do not send by surface or cheaper unrecorded methods to aviod losses.
Overseas shipping includes a fee for insurance up to £500 Shipping is by Royal Mail, local Postal Services, or Courier Services, services are either tracked or requires a Signature.
The shipping charge includes a packaging fee includes abebooks commission and the cost of packaging, brown paper, bubblewrap, and cardboard book wrapper or box. We dont not use newspaper, old envolopes of jiffy bags.
