Beyond Being: This is an comic, that through the adventures of Eli explores the question of "Being".
In the time when his contemporaries sought to rationalise the beginning of the World by using basic elements, Parmenidis based it on a single term, the "Being".
Being is existence, encompassing everything. Everything is the Present since the present contains time and space in its entirety.
Being is the moment which includes Memory, Destiny and Love.
Dazed by the mortal term "to become", we flash by; we originate from somewhere on the way to somewhere. The future and the past are conjecture, cosmic dust, which neither were nor will ever be, since the illusion of existence will keep spinning matter from life to oblivion, from tangible to perishable, from before to after. Could before and after even apply to God, to infinity, or to anything that has ever shaken us?
Lydia Venieri drew and wrote "Beyond Being" while in Paris, during 1987.
Born in Athens in 1964, she studied painting and sculpture at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, where she lived for fourteen years.
Her work, varied and extensive, has been on exhibit in many of the world's renowned art galleries and museums.
