About this Item
An interesting curiosity, published and signed by A.H.Reed who in 1949 acquired several issues of Charles Dickens's All the Year Round. In the issue for the 17th May, 1862 he found an anonymous story of New Zealand bearing the odd title From the Black Rocks, on Friday. This story of adventure running to some 10,000 words appeared to have evaded the nets of New Zealand bibliographers. Reed republished the material in a limited edition of 2,000, 1750 in boards and 250 in cloth. This copy is numbered 222 , signed by Reed and inscribed to Dame Sybil Thorndike.
