The General Theological Seminary's Standard Copy of the 1818/1822 Episcopal Book of Common Prayer, interleaved, and with added pages noting typographical errors, and with a twentieth-century librarian's note indicating that this copy, where the title page retains the date 1818 though it has been struck through and corrected in ink, does not have the engraved title page and six engravings. This edition includes The whole book of Psalms, 1818 [i.e., 1822], with a separate title page but continuous pagination, pp. [305]-392. Wth the following insertions: a) two-page letter describing this copy, signed E. de S. J., noting that that two editions were printed from stereotypes prepared by D. & G. Grace in 1817 b) leaf with ownership signature of Joseph Wentworth Ingraham (1799-1848), printer, educational administrator, and author, and discoverer of the "Cave of the Winds" at Niagara Falls c) diary of church services attended in Providence, Boston and elsewehere, 1824-7 (11 leaves, closely written, recording ministers, sermons, readings, etc.) d) interleaving with ink snd pencil annotations thoughout (biblical citations and queries) e) lists of typographical errors and queries (4 leaves, paginated in ink 393-400) Ingraham, who had trained as a printer and was known as a careful corrector had proposed to publish a folio edition of the Book of Common Prayer, in a subscription broadside printed circa 1821-5, but the edition was never published. Instead Ingraham prepared a work on Biblical geography (1828) and a Manual (1834), which was the first visitor's guide to Niagara Falls. Griffiths, 1822/22. Provenance: Jos. W.
