In the publisher's original red cloth binding. Each work signed, with the bookplate of, Major John Roberts Atkin-Roberts of Glassenbury, relative of the prominent Roberts baronetcy. Profusely illustrated with a frontispiece to Volume I and numerous vignettes throughout the collection. Lacking the animal portrait plates towards the front of each volume. The popular agricultural guide by trusted Scottish farmer, metereologist and author Henry Stephens. Initially published in 1844, the text saw many reprintings, this edition having been revised by agricultural author James Macdonald. The work accessibly details the intricacies of running a successful farm, resourcefully sectioned by season, with information on both crops and livestock. In the publisher's original red cloth binding.Each work features the bookplate of Atkin-Roberts of Glassenbury to the front paste down, followed by a signature to the half-title page. Externally, smart with slight bumping and rubbing, leading to minor loss of cloth to the spine heads and tails, more prominent to the rear joint of Div. I and spine of Div. V, the latter beginning to crack along front joint and peel to the spine head. A few marks to boards, more so to the rear of divisions III and IV. Internally, firmly bound, subtly more delicate following each contents page, preumably where plates have been removed. A very bright and clean collection with the exception of the odd spot, heavier to the first and last few pages. Good.
