Born In A Fatal Car Crash: .And Other Dramatic Entrances

Steve Eastin is one of the most respected character actors in the entertainment industry. He has appeared in over 300 national commercials, television shows, and feature films over his fifty-year career.

Born in a Fatal Car Crash is the story of his journey from a small town in the middle of the Great Plains to the bright, fickle lights of Hollywood. It was not a smooth ride. He had to overcome rejection, self-doubt, financial woes, a painful failed marriage, and an armed robbery in which he was shot and seriously wounded. His perseverance and belief in the power of synchronicity allowed him to emerge from these travails triumphant. The amazing coincidences that allowed his dream to come true are stunning in their pure number. Some of his more notable appearances include Field of Dreams, Killers of the Flower Moon, Catch Me If You Can, and Up In The Air. Three of the four films were Oscar-nominated. His anecdotes about working on Seinfeld and The X-Files are insightful and revealing. He writes of his fun-filled journey in the world of national commercials like IBM, UPS, Met Life, and his stint on the soap opera Days of our Lives. His career as one of LA’s most respected acting coaches also provides fodder for the book. The revolutionary way of working he was taught by Charles Eric Conrad causes one to question many long-held beliefs about actor training and life training as well.

When he was eight years old, Steve told his Dad, ‘I figured out what I want to do with my life. I want to be a major league baseball pitcher or a movie actor.” Thirty years––almost to the day later––Steve was in an Iowa cornfield playing a major league pitcher in an Oscar-nominated Hollywood movie.
