COMFORT SANDS (1748-1834). Sands was an American military officer, banker and politician. ALS. 1pg. August 24, 1785. New York. An autograph letter signed Comfort Sands to Peter Curtenius, Esquire; he was later a marshal of New York City. Sands wrote: Mr. Barton has an Acc. [Account] against the State of 32. for the Supply of the Poor at N Rochelle [New Rochelle], which must be allowed & deducted from the Ballance he owes the State on [settlement] of his Acc. Deliv. some time ago the Ballance due, you are to Receive in Certificates - not allowing Interest on them. - Comfort Sands. The letter has dark ink and is in fine condition.
