"Changing The Guard" is Cray’s most rigorous "Unique Photographs" project. The title refers to the fact that each image shows the same self-portrait superimposed with another photographically sourced image, creating a unique image. Cray calls each image a 'double-printed photograph' of which there is an infinite number "left out in the world as unique photographs". An esoteric figure, Cray keeps American Surrealism and the very idea of art alive today.
